Roland E. Swanson Jr. is the founder and managing attorney of The Swanson Law Firm. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Mr. Swanson draws his inspiration from his hometown upbringing. As an advocate for social justice, Mr. Swanson has centered his personal life and professional career on three fundamental principles: culture, commitment, and community.
Culture: Mr. Swanson’s passion for culture is deeply rooted in his upbringing and education. He proudly holds degrees from two distinguished Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs); Jackson State University and Howard University School of Law. These institutions, steeped in rich cultural history, helped instill the values of excellence, resilience, and the importance of preserving heritage.
Commitment: Mr. Swanson’s commitment to social justice was fostered during his matriculation at Howard University School of Law. As a student attorney with the Howard University Criminal Justice Clinic, Mr. Swanson honed his litigation skills while making a substantive difference in the lives of individuals in need of legal representation. His leadership as Captain of the award-winning Huver I. Brown Moot Court Trial Advocacy Team also showcased his dedication to the art of advocacy.
